SYNOPSIS
Halley and her 6-year-old daughter Moonee live in a motel just outside Disney World Orlando in Florida. Precocious Moonee views the poverty-stricken strip of motels and fast food outlets as colourful and exciting. The food is sweet, there are few rules and supervision isn’t required. At most, Moonee wants to keep volatile manager Bobby on her good side even though his frustration amuses her.

Sean Baker
Sean Baker studied at New York University and received his BA in Film Studies. As a filmmaker, he takes the viewer close to his characters. To do this, he carries out meticulous research. For the film Tangerine, he researched transgender prostitutes for eight months, together with his co-writer. Baker takes a respectful and responsible approach to his characters, but he often neglects the rules of film. Tangerine (2015) for example, was made entirely with an IPhone. For The Florida Project (2017), he filmed in and near Walt Disney World Resort. The world premiere was in Cannes.
