Pepo, an honest fisherman, struggles against a cunning trader who has cheated him. Pepo is the first Armenian sound film.

Hamo Beknazaryan
(1892 - 1965) . Hamo Beknazaryan used to be a professional sportsman. In 1918, he graduated from the Moscow Commercial Institute. Since 1914, Beknazaryan starred in Russian films, he was one of the stars of Russian silent cinema. In 1921, Beknazaryan was the head of the film section of Narkompros of Georgia, later he became a director of Goskinprom of Georgia. Hamo Beknazaryan is the founder of Armenian cinema.
