Garegin Zakoyan
Born 1947, Yerevan, Armenia. Zakoyan graduated from the Department of Philology from Yerevan State University in 1970 and received his Master of Arts degree at the Leningrad Theatre, Music and Film Institute in 1976. In 1985 he was assigned Head of the Department of Cinema and TV at the Art Institute, Armenian Academy of Sciences. In 1991 he founded the Armenian National Cinematheque and directed it until 1998. Zakoyan has published articles and books on the history of cinema and has directed and written 12 films. Today, he is the head of the Film and TV Department at Yerevan State Theatre and Film Institute and the director of Luys Film Studios.
