SYNOPSIS
Beneath the surface of Armenian society lies an untraditional reality; one where a woman's right to choose ends in a quest to present a male heir to the family. Bavakan explores this issue through the stories of four women and the pressures they have faced to have gender selection abortions.

Born 1978, Los Angeles, USA. Gregorian earned a Bachelor’s degree cum laude in International Development from UCLA and a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School at Tufts University. She is currently working on Bavakan Media Advocacy campaign that aims to reduce the high rate of gender selection abortion in Armenia. In 2011, she won the top prize at the Armenia Turkey Cinema Platform within the framework of Director’s Across Borders to direct the documentary film, Back to Gurun, currently in production. In 2008-09, she was awarded a United States Fulbright Grant to research reproductive health care in Armenia. She has since been working on the documentary film, Enough. In 2007, her documentary short, We Remember, focusing on how music is used as an outlet to commemorate genocide, was aired on Al Gore’s Current TV Network. From 2005 to 2007, Gregorian worked in Acquisitions at Oprah Winfrey’s cable network Oxygen Media. In addition to making films, Gregorian is an accomplished painter whose works have been exhibited in Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, and the United States.
