Lars von Trier

Born 1956, Copenhagen, Denmark. Lars von Trier, Danish film director and screenwriter, studied film at the Danish Film School. He started making his own films at the age of 11. Von Trier attracted international attention with his very first feature, The Element of Crime (1984). He is also behind some iconic movies, such as Breaking the Waves (1996), Dancer in the Dark (2000), Dogville (2003). As of 2011, he has directed 11 feature, 5 short films and 4 television productions.
