Dariush Mehrjui, Michael Glawogger, Anahid Nazarian will chair official juries

Every year cinema prominent representatives invited by Golden Apricot Film Festival arrive in Armenia.
This year also Golden Apricot Film Festival will be notable for its participants, guests and jury membership.

The festival has five juries. Besides the three competition juries: feature, documentary and Armenian panorama, this year the Festival has FIPRESCI and ecumenical juries.

The Feature Films jury chairman is famous Iranian film director, symbolic representative of Iranian cinema Dariush Mehrjui. Eminent film director, Venice, Bangkok, Karlovy Vary, Golden Apricot award winner Ulrich Seidl (Austria), Golden Globe, Chicago, Venice, San Sebastian award winner Goran Paskalevic (Serbia), Istanbul International Film Festival director Azize Tan (Turkey) and Armenian famous film director and actor Ashot Adamyan (Armenia) are included in the jury.
This year the documentary films jury will be chaired by Michael Glawogger (Austria), famous film director and writer, Vienna Festival Prize winner. Sergey Bukovsky, one of the best Ukrainian documentary directors, whose films have been awarded with prizes of numerous festivals, Vitaly Mansky, Russian producer and documentary director, the author and the host of the Real Cinema TV program on the Russian First Channel are in the Jury. Carla Garapedian, famous BBC World News correspondent, producer and director living in Great Britain, whose “Screamers” is Golden Apricot 2007 award winner is also a jury member.

This year Armenian Panorama competition jury is chaired by Anahid Nazarian from USA, whose cinema career has started with cooperation with famous Coppola. They have been cooperating up to the present. Patrick Cazals, French journalist, film and philosophy lecturer, television producer and director, writer is also the jury member. Zaven Gookasian of Armenian background from Iran, famous film critic, Iranian government Golden Film award winner and Mikayel Dovlatyan, director and actor, prize winner of numerous festivals, Ruzan Zakharyan, FIPRESCI member and “Arvest” on-line magazine chief editor are also jury members.

This year FIPRESCI jury is chaired by Sheila Johnston, journalist for the Daily Telegraph, the Independent, the Scotsman, Sight and Sound from the Great Britain. The jury members are Alin Tasciyan, film critic of Milliyet (daily) from Turkey and Siranuysh Galstyan, film historian, script writer, member of the Federation of International Associations of Film Critics and Film Journalists (FIPRESCI) from Armenia.

Ecumenical jury involves Jos Horemans, journalist and film critic from Belgium and Denyse Muller, Pastor from France, who has been organizing the Ecumenical Jury at the Cannes Festival as an INTERFILM delegate since 2000. Another member of the Ecumenical jury is Reverend Father Gevorg Saroyan, the Dean of the Vaskenian Seminary.

Golden Apricot Film Festival will take place from 13-20 July. The festival is held with the support of RA Ministry of Culture. The general sponsor of Golden Apricot is VivaCell.
