Even crazy people can do extraordinary things. Pier Gianni Burreddu certainly has done: he has sailed across the Atlantic Ocean together with other men and women who suffer from mental illness, played his bass with dolphins and whales, and come through sea storms unharmed, but above all he has been able to deal openly with his illness. The documentary tells the story of Pier Gianni’s journey across the Atlantic – from Cadice to the Antilles – on the “crazy boat”. The day the crew left the Spanish coast behind, heading southwest, little did Pier Gianni imagine that the oceanic route was in reality taking him back home to Sardinia. During the journey Pier relived his past; the tormented relationship with his parents, the mental illness, the electroshocks, the many hospital stays, but also the vital force of his music.

| Reinert Biasi, Juliane Juliane Reinert Biasi (born 1962, Merano)
Artist, photographer and documentarist, she has a diploma from the Art School of Trento and a degree in languages and geo-anthropology. She has attended the Holden Torino Circus School itinerant cinema and script writing courses with Angelo Orlando. She is self-employed and her work always follows the theme of man and his relationship with the environment. She has an extensive experience of expeditions in the Alps and the Himalayas and has travelled in Eastern Europe, Russia, Asia and Africa making television documentaries. Her agency, Kuraj, collaborates with RAI and Mediaset. In 2007 she won the award Solidarity at the Trento FF for the film Lezione di fine anno.

Damiani, Sergio Sergio Damiani (born 1965, Milano)
Journalist and documentarist, he has a degree in political science. In 2001 he travelled across Mongolia on horseback to document the life of the last nomads by becoming a nomad himself; the resulting work was Le vie della steppa. He made the television series Sibir il vagabondo, stories of four-legged voyages. In Africa, aboard a Renault 4, he followed the tracks of European used-car sellers headed for the big African markets. (Desert Tradesis currently in post production).
