This is a film about the fate of the protagonists of Krzysztof Zanussi's films from the 1970s: Family Life (1971), Camouflage (1976), The Constant Factor (1980). What happend to them? Where are they? How did they live the decades, that separate us from those times? The film is in the form of an interview, conducted by a suicidal young man from the film With a Warm Heart. Following his therapist’s advice, he is inquiring if someone's life could have been more successful. Scenes from films match the interview. Years later after the original films the same actors answer his questions.
