Costica Ahir raises his three children in the village of Acui, Republic of Moldova. His wife left for Italy three years ago to find a better job and has not been home ever since. About half of the active population of his country is in a similar situation.
| Ciulei, Thomas Thomas Ciulei (born 1965, Bucharest, Romania)
In 1979 Ciulei moved to New York, where he studied photography at the School of Visual Arts. In 1990 he studied documentary filmmaking at the University of Television and Film, Munich. In 1992 he graduated from the Film Department of the New York University. Between 2003 and 2007 he produced documentaries and fictions. His films have been selected to several film festivals and have won numerous awards.
