Trebitsch, Dir./Script: Eric Friedler, Directors of Photography: Christoph Chassée, Thomas Hamelmann, Torsten Lapp, Hanno Lentz, Torben Müller, Chris Völschow, Johannes Anders, Composers: Michael Klaukien, Andreas Lonardoni, Sound: Dirk Homann, Marten von de Voort, Editor: Florentine Bruck

The documentary, Aghet (Armenian: catastrophy, calamity), tells the story of the Armenian genocide during World War I when about 1,5 million people were killed in the Ottoman Empire (today’s Turkey) between 1915 and 1918. Raphael Lemkin, “the father of the 1948 UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide”, calls the events of those times the first systematically executed genocide of the 20th century. Still, until today, this genocide is denied by the Turkish government, the descendants of the perpetrators responsible for it. The film follows the motivations behind the international denials and the consequences for international policy today.
