In 1972, during the proletarian cultural revolution, the great Italian film director, Michelangelo Antonioni, came to China and made the film, China, a four-hour-long documentary, which caused tremendous uproar and had revolutionary outcome. He became the first westerner to capture on film contemporary China. More than 30 years later, the author of this film met with Antonioni's colleagues and friends, talking about that period in history. Meantime, he also searched China of the people and places Antonioni shot at the time, in order to retrieve the distant past. What is China like in the director’smind during the few years of shooting the film – the last few years of Antonioni's life?
