55-year-old bailiff Jean-Claude Delsart wants to be happy, but just doesn’t seem able to get it right. He lives deep in constant gloom, viewing his life as nothing but a string of sentimental failures: his marriage ends in divorce, his relation with his only son is cold and superficial, and he is convinced that his sour old crone of a father never loved him... One day, Jean-Claude decides to join a new tango school across the road from his office. He meets Françoise, a 36-year-old woman there. Françoise skates on the same emotional ice-rink. It would simply be easier for them not to get involved... unless they both realise that this could well be their last chance.
