“Russian Inteligentsiya” – what does this concept entail? What values and principles guided the life of those who endures the most horrible, carnivorous times in Russian history and managed to preserve the little of an Inteligent? A review of these values and their devaluation in modern Russia is the core theme of this documentary investigation. Russian nobleman, Nikolay Blinov, died protecting Jewish settlements during one of the annual bashings in 19th century Zhitomir. Few decades later, his descendants, the Tomashevski family, sheltered such jewels of Russian culture scene as Joseph Brodski, Svyatoslav Rikhter and Anna Akhmatova. Already a Nobel Prize winner, Brodski continued writing letters full of love and sympathy to Zoya and Anastasiya Tomashevskie. He called these numerous letters the Angels’ Post. Several years ago his letters were sold by Tomashevskie in order to secure two places in a nursing home where someone would care for them. The dramatic story of Tomashevskie family, their famous home and the Angels’ Post serves to reflect the degradation of values and decay of the very concept of Russian Inteligentsiya. Films include many unique documents and footage.
