Four cities, four cases of theft, four instalments of a Champions' League game and football fever everywhere… The interwoven episodes of this film kick off in Moscow, where Galatasaray Istanbul and Deportivo La Coruña meet for the Champions' League final. A young English art dealer, is mugged after a taxi ride but finds help in the shape of a pensioner named Elena. The two women make their way to the police station. Meanwhile, in Istanbul, a German student is trying to pretend he's been mugged in order to obtain a police report and so claim the insurance money. At the same time, at the famous Spanish place of pilgrimage Santiago de Compostela, a Hungarian history teacher Gabor is relieved of his digital camera. Village policeman Barreira would be only too happy to help this Catholic pilgrim – after his siesta. He opted for community rather than military service and spent his term working in a psychiatric institution. He then studied European law at Passau University. He was an Erasmus fellow in Santiago de Compostela in 1994. He took up studies at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin (DFFB) in 1995, graduating with the feature film, Berlin is in Germany. This film won the Panorama Audience Award at the 2001 Berlinale and went on to receive a number of other awards.
