Born on an island on the Swedish west coast where film and television still are banned. Due to this he saw his first motion picture at the age of 19. In 1989 he started studying film directing at the International Filmschool of Gothenburg. His first film at the school, the documentary Let the Others Deal with Love was nominated for the biggest Swedish film award in 1999. In 2004 he made his feature debute, The Guitar Mongoloid.
