Estamira is a 63-year-old woman who lives at a garbage dump near Rio de Janeiro. She is also diagnosed with a severe form of schizophrenia. Prado followed her character, disclosed her story, and portrayed her environment for nearly five years. The outcome is a picture as complex as documentaries can be, built in infinite layers of mystery and understanding. Brazilian photographer. Has received several international awards for his work as a photographer. In 2002 he produced the acclaimed Bus 174 and was recently nominated for an Emmy Award for Best Cinematography on Pantanal Cowboys (2000), a film he produced and directed. Estamira opened at the 2004 Rio de Janeiro FF.
