The film explores the lives and labors of the so called cartoneros, who scavenge Buenos Aires’ streets and rubbish heaps for cardboard to sell for a pittance. This army of shadows, more than a hundred thousand strong, assemble each night to seek out a pitiful subsistence on the streets of the richer districts of the city. As the camera travels with them we gain unprecedented access to their world of despair and defiance, their fearsome pride against inequality. | Souto, Veronica Clara Veronica Clara Souto (born 1968, Buenos Aires)
