Life is hard for a group of Neapolitan fishermen living in Sicily. In an attempt to increase their haul, Salvatore, the captain, pushes his men into African territorial waters, endangering their lives so they decide to return to Flegrea in Naples, which is where they originally came from. They want to start again...

After starting a law degree, he started to work as a sports photographer. He moved to cinema in 1996 and made his debut with the shorts Una rosa prego and La vestizione (1998), which he himself wrote, directed and produced. He was awarded a Solinas scholarship for his screenplay Giorno per giorno. He was second assistant director to Marco Bechis in Garage Olimpo (1998).
