The film is about Mariam Astvatsatsin holiday, which is also known as “Khaghoghorhneq”. This is one of the 5 taghavar holidays of Armenian church. The holiday is celebrated specially in the village Dgher. The day of the holiday is also the day of the Dgher’s church. The previous night pilgrims come to the church, stay there, sing religious songs, sleep inside saint walls. The next morning merchants come here and lay down all their staff: clothes, sunflower bags… Then all the believers gather, then they kill (sacrifice) animals and the festivity begins. People also light candles, pray, as usual during holidays. The camera is like a stranger, who follows all those events 3 days and nights. There is no need to speak about positive or negative, because one can find eveything here: it’s the mini model of our society, gathered on top of the hill – village Dgher.
