Was born in Oakland, California. While attending college at the University of California at Santa Barbara he majored in film studies. Years later, Sevan stumbled upon a Supported Living home where he decided to put his efforts into working with developmentally disabled adults. Four years afterward, he brought his camera to work and began filming his first feature length documentary, Our House.
